Environment

At Olive the Earth my goal is have a very minimal impact on the environment.  I do this through my packaging and branding of products.  Each piece is packed on a piece of balsa wood, a raw recyclable material, then placed in a wheat paper box padded with cotton to keep the jewelry safe during shipping.  In addition, Olive the Earth stickers are printed with soy based ink and all business cards are made from 100% cotton, using cotton from recycled T-shirt cutoffs.

My promise is to always ensure as little waste as possible.  When I have left over clay I save it and use it for limited edition collections or try to create new color. As I grow and learn more I will continue to educate myself on what is best for the environment. Please reach out if you have any questions or if you have any other sustainability tips!

Additionally, I have a business partnership with Eden Reforestation Projects.  A tree is planted for every pair of earrings that is purchased.  By planting trees in Ethiopia, Madagascar, Nepal, Haiti, Indonesia, and Mozambique Eden Reforestation Projects are:

  1. Restoring animal habitats
  2. Improving water purity
  3. Increasing soil quality by preventing flooding and soil erosion
  4. Eden hires local villagers to plant the trees. This provides them with a decent income so they can provide for their families
